Chiefs track & field off and running
The Track and Field season got underway Saturday at the UCM meet in Warrensburg. Top performances of the day included sophomore Wyatt Doak taking first place in the high jump, soaring 2.03 meters (6’ 8”) which ranks very high in the class one state record books, and Brooke Summers taking 3rd and 4th in the 100M and 200M Dashes. Adryen Tice had top 5 performances as well, as he posted a 20.02 for 5th in the 100m Hurdles, and 49.96 for 5th in the 300m Hurdles. The Chiefs next will take on the field at Carrollton on 3-26, and the Hoefer Husker Classic in Higginsville on 4-7-26.
Area roadwork planned
The Wakenda Chute Bridge on Carroll County Route 41 north of Marshall is scheduled to close beginning Monday, March 30. Bridge crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be performing necessary bridge maintenance.

Application period open for LRHC Auxiliary scholarship
The Lafayette Regional Health Center Auxiliary is offering $1,000 scholarships to eligible students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and preference will be given to residents of Lafayette County, Mo. They must be within one year of completion of the human health-related post-secondary program for which they are enrolled. The scholarships will be awarded on the consideration of grades, enthusiasm, professionalism and need. The scholarship will be given for the 2026-27 school year and is awarded for one year only. Completed applications must be mailed to: Auxiliary Scholarships, Lafayette Regional Health Center, 1500 State Street, Lexington, MO 64067 and postmarked by June 1. Highway Patrol reports two recent area accidents
On Thursday, March 19, an accident near Higginsville was fatal for a state of Georgia resident.
