Counties facing reclassification
Lafayette County Commissioners are beginning preliminary work and getting questions answered from the State Auditor’s office as they prepare to navigate the changes of being reclassified as a thirdclass county, Southern Commissioner Michael Brown remarked in a recent Facebook post.

Auditor issues compilation of law enforcement federal forfeiture reports
On March 17, Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick released his office’s compilation of 2025 federal forfeiture reports. Law enforcement agencies that participate in the federal asset forfeiture system must file information regarding federal seizures and proceeds with the State Auditor’s Office.

Lady Chiefs fall to Kingsville in opener
The Lady Chiefs of Santa Fe took on the Kingsville Lady Tigers in Alma last Friday night in Softball, and the game would only be decided in a long extra inning affair going a lengthy nine innings.

SF baseball drops home opener
Spring is in the air, and once again it is time for Santa Fe Spring Sports. The Chiefs Baseball team held it’s first action of the season at home on Dalton Wilkinson Field against the Kingsville Tigers, who were fresh off a Final Four appearance in Class One Basketball just a few days prior. KHS was 6 and 14 last year and Santa Fe was 1 and 16.
