Food drive
The Fairview 4-H Club had their monthly meeting on February 2. Morgan Nuelle offered a presentation on dental health. The club also held a canned food drive for the Lexington Food Pantry.
Standings and records of area basketball teams
Following is a summary of the records and the conference standings of area high school basketball teams, as of the conclusion of games last week. Each team will be listed in order of its current conference standing, as well as its conference and overall record as of this past Friday, February 6.
Parade marks 30 years
Taffy Morgan was one of several people who helped get the St. Patrick’s Day Parade off the ground in 1996. Riley’s Irish Pub — owned by Forrest Riley and managed by his niece Taffy — along with the Brass Eagle Supper Club owned by David Goodloe and Jim Bertz came up with plans for the parade, which remain basically the same to this day.


SWCD hosting annual poster contest
The Lafayette County Soil and Water Conservation District would like to invite 4th grade students in Lafayette County to participate in our annual Conservation poster contest. The theme for this year’s contest is Soil. Where It All Begins. Soil grows our food, filters our water, supports wildlife habitats, and provides the foundation for our communities. Without soil, there would be no farms, forests, or places for humans and animals to thrive. Soil is such an important part of our ecosystem!

LCHD to be closed for President’s Day
The Lafayette County Health Department will be closed Monday, February 16th in observance of President’s Day.
