Middle school basketball girls play well at the end
The Lexington Middle School Girls basketball team had a good month of January, as they went 6-5 during the month, and they placed third in the MRVC East Middle School Conference Tournament that capped off the season.

Academic Week
Lexington High School held its annual Academic Week last week r ecognizing students who have had at least three semesters of high school and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.66 or higher. Above, students were treated to a visit to Lambert’s, home of the “throwed rolls.” More photos from the week are on page 2.

Damario Moss wraps up excellent freshman season
Former Lexington Minutemen basketball star, Damario Moss wrapped up his first college basketball season last week, and the Freshman compiled some impressive statistics, as a first year player with the Missouri Valley Vikings.

High school scoreboard fundraiser a big success
The Lexington High School Gymnasium was crowded last Friday evening, as a large number of Minutemen and Minutewomen supporters, of all ages, gathered for a Fundraiser, to help raise money for a new Scoreboard and Play Clock for the District Football and Track Stadium, at the high school.

History of Girl Scout Week
In 1911, while living in the United Kingdom, Juliette Gordon Low met with the founder of Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell. From this meeting, Low developed the idea to create a girls-only organization that brings girls out of their homes to the great outdoors to serve their communities and provide a platform for them to develop self-reliance and resourcefulness. Upon arriving in the United States, Low began planning to start Girl Scouting.

Girl Scout Week starts from Girl Scout Sunday and ends on Girl Scout Sabbath on a Saturday to mark the great sisterhood of Girl Scouting and to commemorate the day when the organization was bom. This year, it takes place from March 9 to 15. Did you know that Juliette Gordon Low got the idea of founding the Girls Scouts after meeting with the founder of Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell, in 1911? Girl Scouts, also known as the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, is a youth organization for girls of American origin. It runs camping and community service activities to empower young girls and enable them to build various skills, including leadership, entrepreneurship, active citizenship, confidence, compassion, and courage.
