Happy Hooker’s Crochet Group Invites/Need New Members

The Happy Hooker’s Crochet Group invites anyone interested in crochet/knitting to join us! We crochet/knit for hospitals, homeless and other charity organizations. If you do not know how to crochet/knit, we will teach you! (If you have a child who wants to learn, when school is out..we have someone willing to teach them.) If you don’t want to contribute your project, come join us anyway, just for the fellowship! If you need yarn for a project, if we have it …we furnish it for our projects. We do not furnish it for projects outside of our mission, The group was organized in 2009 and has donated over 24,000 items in that period. Most of the yarn is basically donated with exception of monies that are donated. We meet every Monday morning at the Senior Citizens, in Higginsville, 9-11 a.m. If 9 a.m. is too early for you…many come in at 10 a.m.

Local Democrats donate to county food pantries

Last month, the Lafayette County Democratic Central Committee and Club voted to donate to the food pantries in our county for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. The Club gave monetary donations to pantries in Concordia, Higginsville, Lexington, Odessa, Waverly and Wellington. This aligns with their vision and mission to be the welcoming, inclusive party of choice for Lafayette County voters, championing fairness and an engaged sense of community, ensuring everyone is respected and has equal opportunity. The Club has participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service for several years. This year, it fell on Jan. 19 and it was a perfect time to help local food pantries. The Club appreciates the work they do for those in need, especially during this time when food, child care and health care assistance is being cut or eliminated.
