SF baseball drops home opener
Spring is in the air, and once again it is time for Santa Fe Spring Sports. The Chiefs Baseball team held it’s first action of the season at home on Dalton Wilkinson Field against the Kingsville Tigers, who were fresh off a Final Four appearance in Class One Basketball just a few days prior. KHS was 6 and 14 last year and Santa Fe was 1 and 16.

Lady Chiefs fall to Kingsville in opener
The Lady Chiefs of Santa Fe took on the Kingsville Lady Tigers in Alma last Friday night in Softball, and the game would only be decided in a long extra inning affair going a lengthy nine innings.

Students recognized for dedication at banquet
Additional awards continue to mount up for the Chiefs, and Lady Chiefs, here are some student/athlete recognitions that were announced during the Winter Sports Banquet held on Thursday, March 12: 3.5 Cumulative GPA Award Boys: Joel Long, Ethan Finkeldei, Will Leabo, Sam Hyde, Harrison Meyer, Brayden Livingston.

Meyer is state champion free thrower
Over the past several weeks, area youth have been competing in a free throw competition which began in Higginsville.

Carrollton’s youth wrestling team
This past weekend, members of Carrollton’s youth wrestling team travelled to Springfield to participate in the state wrestling championship held March 13-15. Negro League baseball: They changed the game!
Negro League Baseball was different. Bunt to first, steal second, sacrifice to third, then — you bet — steal home. It was exciting and fast paced that put the pressure on the defense.

Santa Fe girls eliminated in Districts
It was time for district competition last week, and the Santa Fe Lady Chiefs traveled south down Highway 23 to take on the extremely familiar host school Concordia, in Class 2 District 14 play last Wednesday night. Santa Fe had won three straight over the Lady Orioles, but everyone knew this would be a tough ball game.
