Higginsville Lafayette County C-1 played host to district wrestling action on Friday and Saturday in the Husker East Gym. In what some refer to as the District of Death (or perhaps in lighter terms, one of the toughest districts around), many wrestlers battled tough for C-1, and when all was said and done, three C1 boys punched their tickets to Columbia and the MSHSAA State Wrestling Champions this week.

Happy Hooker’s Crochet Group Invites/Need New Members

The Happy Hooker’s Crochet Group invites anyone interested in crochet/knitting to join us! We crochet/knit for hospitals, homeless and other charity organizations. If you do not know how to crochet/knit, we will teach you! (If you have a child who wants to learn, when school is out..we have someone willing to teach them.) If you don’t want to contribute your project, come join us anyway, just for the fellowship! If you need yarn for a project, if we have it …we furnish it for our projects. We do not furnish it for projects outside of our mission, The group was organized in 2009 and has donated over 24,000 items in that period. Most of the yarn is basically donated with exception of monies that are donated. We meet every Monday morning at the Senior Citizens, in Higginsville, 9-11 a.m. If 9 a.m. is too early for you…many come in at 10 a.m.

Letters To The Editor

Dear Editor, The Higginsville Advance has now had the retirement of another great asset to the paper, Doug Booker. Doug has been a fine communicator and he has always been open to listen to anyone who has stories they would like to see covered in our local paper. With the recent possibility of our community losing the newspaper, I am glad that threat has been eliminated for the time being, but the loss of Mr. Booker will not be avoided, unfortunately. Thanks, Doug, for all your hard work and providing us with years of reliable news. I'm sorry to see you go, but happy retirement! Dennis Stewart Dear Editor, On February 12 at a White House event with President Trump, Lee Zeldin, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator, announced the repeal of EPA's 2009 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Endangerment Finding and the repeal of all federal GHG emission standards for many vehicles. This is the single largest act of deregulation in the history of the United States.
